AhrefsTop publishes monthly rankings of the most visited websites in the world, ordered by estimated organic search traffic from the Ahrefs index.

What this site is

AhrefsTop is a free, public ranking of websites by estimated organic search traffic. It is built and operated by Ahrefs Pte. Ltd., the company behind the Ahrefs SEO toolset. Every ranking page is server-rendered, requires no account, and is free to read for people and for automated agents.

The rankings can be sliced by country and by website category, so you can look at the top websites worldwide, the top websites in a single country, or the top websites within a category such as news, shopping, or social networks. Each domain also has a detail page with its traffic history, ranking history, backlink profile, top keywords, and closest competitors.

Where the data comes from

All numbers come from the Ahrefs index, which is built by Ahrefs' own web crawler, AhrefsBot, combined with keyword and search-volume data from Ahrefs Keywords Explorer. Rankings are recalculated once a month against a fresh crawl.

  • Search traffic is an estimate of monthly organic visits from search engines, not a measured pageview count from analytics.
  • Rank is the position of a domain when all tracked domains are sorted by that traffic estimate.
  • Month-over-month changes compare the current crawl against the previous month's crawl.
  • Categories are assigned per domain from Ahrefs' own classification of the site's primary topic.

How to read the numbers

These are estimates. They are useful for comparing the relative scale of websites and for spotting trends over time, and they are not a substitute for a site's own analytics. A domain's real total traffic is normally higher than its organic search traffic, because organic search excludes direct visits, paid traffic, social referrals, and app traffic.

Because the ranking only counts organic search traffic, sites that get most of their audience from an app, a feed, or direct navigation will rank lower here than their overall popularity would suggest.

You are welcome to cite AhrefsTop rankings in articles, research, and reports, with attribution and a link to the page you took the figures from. Include the month of the data, since rankings change every month.
